A Trip To The Holy Land

You are invited to spend an evening with Pastor Rich and Greg on January 8th. The evening will begin with a meal prepared by Dot Madell, the cost will be $6.00. After dinner Pastor and Greg will share stories and pictures of the trip to the Holy Land.  Please sign up today.  Call the church office with your name and number of people attending by January 3.

Thank You, Thank You

Many thanks to all those who helped to
make the Christmas pageant a success:

to the children for their charming performance

to the Sunday School teachers for their cooperation

to Pastor Rich for his never-ending support

to the parents for juggling their schedules
to get their children to practice

to Steven Kircher & Jim Voorhees for helping
with lighting and sound

and most of all to Jack Perry,
who not only made the lighted star for the altar,
but risked life and limb to hang it.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

Brownie News

Brownie Troop 231

has had a very busy December.  At our first meeting this month, Joanne Perry shared a Christmas craft and a bit of Milltown history.  On December 14th, we visited our troop grandmother, Anna Nikola, for our annual Christmas visit, bringing with us homemade cards, singing Teddy bears and holiday cheer. On December 17th, we saw "A Christmas Carol" at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, a reward to the girls for their outstanding cookie sales this year.

Women’s Guild

On January 8th

we will have a combined supper meeting with the men’s group.  Greg Weyer will tell us of his experiences in Israel.

The Women’s Guild distributed 20 fruit baskets
to our church shut-ins.  At the same time we donated to the Restoration Fund in honor of our members in the nursing home.

We wish A Happy New Year to our St. Paul’s family.

Property & Grounds

Even though it was cold, we had a large turn out for the Fall cleaning of the church grounds.   I want to thank everyone who came, also a thank you to the Junior Youth group.

The decoration of the church for Christmas was done by Elana and Steve Kircher, Jack Perry and four members of the Confirmation Class.

The Christmas decorations will be taken down Saturday, January 6, 2001.   Anyone who has some free time, please come to the church at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday, January 20, 2001 - we are having a paint party.  Please bring rollers, roller pans and paint brushes.   Roller covers will be provided.   We will start at 8:00 a.m. until we finish (around 4:00 p.m.)   A light lunch will be provided.   We will be painting Sunday School rooms (no windows).   Any amount of time you can spend will be appreciated.   Ladies are welcome!

Men of St. Paul’s

A small group of Men of St. Paul’s met on December 4th for our monthly meeting.  We enjoyed another delicious meal, prepared by Dot Madell.  Thanks Dot, as usual, it was delicious.

After dinner Dennis Lowe updated us on the activities of Troop 11.   He reported on a very successful, enjoyable and educational trip to Gettysburg.  All who were there seemed to enjoy it.  The troop popcorn sale turned in a profit of about $263.00.  They also have plans to present a short program after the Advent dinner.

Once again we discussed ways to increase our attendance at our monthly meetings.  Between Dennis’ antics and Dot’s cooking I don’t know what else we can do to encourage folks, but we’ll keep trying! Dennis is looking for some new program ideas so if you have suggestions, please let him know.

Discussion continued on the purchase or lease of a larger refrigerator.  Based on the prices obtained I believe we’re leaning towards purchase, but no final decision was made.  Personally, I think we should buy a new one - we need a new box for one of the sanctuary Christmas trees!

Our next meeting will be on January 8th, a joint meeting with the Women’s Guild, when Rich and Greg will entertain us with stories of their trip to Israel. Please let Rich or the church office know if you plan to attend. Attendance is expected to be awesome for this show and an approximate head count is needed.

Respectfully submitted,

Jack Perry, Secretary

Golden Chain of Care

What is it?

It is a ministry of St. Paul’s.

It is our home bound.

It is a circle of Love and Caring.

It is a small group of people who give God’s love.

It is a pretty card on a gloomy day.

It is a voice on the phone brightening a day.

It is a visit in which you bring God’s presence.

It is loving God and neighbor.

Its motto is - I am only one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something with the help of God.

Its links are Marge Conger, Elaine Dittman, Alice Myers, Coralee Fabian, Chris Schmidt and Alice Plantec.

We would love to add you to our chain of care givers. With the list of home bound and those in nursing homes growing, we could use your help.

If you want to know more or volunteer to be a link, you can call the church office 828-0020 or speak to Alice Plantec.
