HIGHLIGHTS OF DECEMBER 13, 2001 CONSISTORY MEETING

The minutes were reviewed from the consistory meeting of November 8, 2001. Motion to approve past Minutes and Financials was accepted and approved.

Correspondence from Amandla’s Crossing, a donation from the Kahler foundation for $3,500, a thank you letter from Jill Kolakowski, a letter of request for assistance to a local family from Heidi Stout and a letter of request for use of the Social Hall on Tuesdays from an AA group.

Motion made and accepted to donate $390 from Pastor’s Discretionary Fund and $100 from Ranger’s to needy family.

Motion made and accepted to allow Tuesday AA group to meet in Social Hall.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Church Office - Tidings deadline is Thursday, December 20. Reminded all that deadlines should be adhered to.

CHURCH AND FAMILY LIFE - Discussed upcoming Caroling, new members to be invited to Guild meetings, purchasing Faith Home for Parents, feasibility of Elder Day Care and Parker Home Services.

198 communed on December 2. Communion training for new consistory members held after meeting.

EDUCATION - Attendance has been higher. This was the best Pageant ever! Thanks to Elana Kircher and Camilla Jarnot.

FINANCE - Challenge was put to committee to come up with a strategy for planned giving i.e. insurance, stock, etc.

PROPERTY AND GROUNDS - Completion of tree trimming, wider area behind social hall, shed removed and Fall cleanup.

RESTORATION - Committee working on a fundraiser to replace the Giants fundraiser. Looking at a Calendar Raffle.

NEW BUSINESS

Good Day Nursery paid in full this year!

Spiritual Council recommended 38 members to be put on Inactive List.  Motion made and accepted.

Pastor Rich invited all consistory members to UCC Workshop on January 19 in Holmdel. Topic: Inspiring Generosity. This would be this year’s retreat. At January’s meeting we will elect officers and choose committees.

Prayer concerns: recovery for Jim Voorhees and Tami Barr, Flo Torok for her time and service to Consistory, Linda Jones’ friend Paula & children, who lost her husband today, awaiting birth of Dot Klesitz’s first great grandchild and for Diane Weyer and all others awaiting test results.

Pastor Rich closed the meeting with The Lord’s Prayer. The next meeting is January 10, 2002.
