Washington DC

The Senior Youth Group will be going to Washington DC on June 22 for 5 days of partnering with urban ministries to serve the elderly, homeless and children in need.

We will also have time to visit the Capital, Lincoln, Vietnam and Korean Memorial. Take part in a scavenger hunt at Union Station and participate in a YouthWorks! Olympics.

Our goal is to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of this mission trip.

Between now and June 22nd we will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner, holding a Bowl-a-thon, serving tables at America’s Keswick, and washing cars in an effort to raise the necessary funds.

Jr. Youth Group

3rd thru 6th Grades

JANUARY’S MEETING DATES ARE
THE 12TH AND 26TH FROM 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Communion & Children

Should there be a set age that children should be before they can take communion?

It has always been that a child must be confirmed before they receive communion.  Why change it?

What does the Bible say about children and communion?

On Sunday, February 2nd, following worship a discussion will be held in the social hall on these questions and others.

Proverbs

Are you looking for a life-changing encounter with God’s Word from the book of Proverbs?

Come to the confirmation room on Wednesday’s at 1 p.m. and join our discussion.

January’s topics will include the wisdom of friendship, sexual purity, and the blessing of righteousness.

Stewardship Update

Eighty-four faith promise cards were received.

Ten indicated that the giver promises to be as faithful as the previous year.

Seventy-four indicated a specific amount promising a total of $81,646.

Deficits

What happens when the church finishes the year with a deficit?

Money is taken from our endowment fund to cover our financial commitments.

As of November 30th we will have to take $29,851.74 out of our endowment fund.

Are You Blessed By St. Paul’s?

I consider it a blessing to be born into a family whose grandparents physically and spiritually built St. Paul’s church 130 years ago.  And… the building continued with my parents and my generation – and still continues with my children and grandchildren.  I have been truly blessed with my families faithful association to St. Paul’s church.

I consider my church a blessing as it is my extended family.  We come together to pray and to praise the Lord – to speak and to sing (and also “to be still and listen”) – to share in our joys and sorrows.  My church has truly blessed me thru the association of an extended family.

Want To Grow?

Do you want to have a more intimate relationship with God?

Are you looking for a small group to share in your quest?

Come to the choir room on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. You will treasure the ninety minutes we spend together and treasure how your intimacy with God increases.

January 7th – Praise: The Expression of Intimacy – Psalms 67, 96, 148 & 150

January 14th – A Life of Deepening Intimacy – Psalms 5, 61, & 146

January 21st – The First Prayer - God, have mercy on me, a sinner - Luke 18:9-14

January 28th – Prepare for Prayer - Psalm 32:5-6

Come to the Lord’s Table

On Sunday, January 5th we gather around the Table of our Lord to receive the sacrament of communion.

Please bring an offering of food with you.  Any packaged food item would be appreciated.  However, please keep in mind the food pantry of the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Milltown is in NEED of cereal, tuna fish, peanut butter and jelly.

Be a Souper Bowl Star!

On Sunday, January 26 you will have the opportunity to be a souper bowl star by bringing cans of soup and by placing a cash donation in the soup pots that the members of the youth group will be holding as you exit from worship.

Last year we were 1 of 11,000 congregations worldwide that participated in Souper Bowl Sunday 2002.  A total of $3.1 million was raised.

God is pleased whenever His children love one another even in the simplest way.
