Dear partner in ministry,

These last two weeks have helped me to look onto next semester with great excitement.  Relationships with students have deepened to the point that I can be more intentional in investing in their lives, there is a growing momentum toward Greek Conference in February, my ministry partnership with Kristi has weathered the difficulties that come with any new partnership and God seems to be using us to supplement and encourage each other’s gifts (not my strong suit, but I praise Him for how He is always putting me in places to learn and grow!), and some surprise gifts to the ministry have brought me to almost 75% of the total ministry’s budget, giving me a lot more time to spend with students.

Now, as the students finish up finals and leave campus for the next couple of weeks, the challenge ahead of me is to get a lot of reading done to further inform my ministry, while at the same time being diligent in locating and contacting many more potential sponsors in the beginning of the new year.  Meanwhile, since many of the Greeks that I have relationships with live around the area, I will have a small handful of meetings with students scattered throughout the break.

As we look together into the future, here’s five things we can be praying about:

-Pray for God to give wisdom and increased gifts of leadership to John, a sophomore SigEp.  We have been meeting to work through a teaching CD called “God’s Story” which goes through the entire Bible in about 80 minutes.  With a high number of Jewish-background students in the Greek system, this method of relaying the Gospel (one similar to what Jesus did after His resurrection, as we read in Luke 24:27, “Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures”) should prove very effective in explaining to John’s Greeks friends Who Jesus was and why He walked on the earth.  John will be holding meeting weekly starting the very beginning of the new semester, focusing on the Old Testament stories, which so clearly bear witness to the true identity of Jesus.

-Pray for Pam, a sophomore Theta, that God would give her peace through some difficult circumstances at home, and that He would continue to mold her for leadership and ministry within her house and the Greek system at large.

-Praise God for Patty, a senior TriDelt, following what she knows is God’s will for her this break.  Patty is a four-year member of the University of Maryland dance team, and she is choosing to not go to the Gator Bowl, missing a very big award ceremony, so that she can attend the entirety of InterVarsity’s Urbana, a tri-annual missions convention that brings 20,000 people to Urbana, Illinois.  Pray that God would bless her decision (seriously, she’s sacrificing Florida to be in cold and miserable Illinois J), and reveal Himself to her at Urbana in a big way!

-Pray for the houses of Alpha Gamma Rho (“AGR”) and Beta Theta Pi (“Beta”), that God would move in some of the men in both of these fraternities to attend Greek Conference in February.

-Pray for me, that I might use my time wisely and in a God-glorifying manner throughout this break.

You won’t hear from me again until sometime in early January.  In the meantime, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Spirit-led, joyful New Year.  Thank you for being used by God to help sustain me through this semester, and I look forward to our partnership continuing into next semester and beyond!

For His Glory,
Greg
