HIGHLIGHTS OF
CONSISTORY MEETING
December 17, 2005

Pastor Rich called the meeting to order and opened with prayer.

Financials

Carolyn Erb suggested that we transfer $45,000 out of the checking account to an interest bearing account. That would leave approx. $30,000 in the checking account to work with while the remainder earned at least some interest. A motion to do so was carried. Carolyn stated that donations after December 30 will be on next year’s books.

A
motion was approved to accept the November financials.

Correspondence

A Thank You letter from Middlesex Interfaith Partners for the Homeless for the donations of clothing.

A letter from the Calvin Synod of the UCC Urging churches to withhold financials from the UCC until a more Biblically correct attitude toward same sex marriage was adopted by the UCC.  Discussion followed concerning the ramifications of such an action.  It was reiterated that unlike the United Church of Christ, St. Paul’s is NOT an open and affirming church. We ARE an open church in that we will extend the love and grace of God to anyone regardless of race, color, creed and sexual preference. We ARE NOT an affirming church in the sense that we do not affirm that homosexuality or same sex marriages are Biblical.

A letter from Warren Frazier, our books auditor, requesting an “agreement of procedure” was presented.  A motion to accept the letter and agreement was passed.

Ministry Teams

No more information yet on the e-giving program.
Communion January 1st. Team two is responsible. New teams will be set up in January.
Caroling is set for Sunday, December 18.

Church and Family Life

Set up for Pray 10, Teacher’s Luncheon and Parker Home . The Parker Home schedule for St. Paul’s will remain the same.

Education

Some comments had been made regarding Pre K children in the Chapel. Pete Herral indicated that the issue had been addressed.

Property

The Wednesday night small group requested that the downstairs women’s bathroom in the education building be looked at and recommendations be made to effect repairs to the efflorescence in the block walls.  Also, some concern was brought up regarding the “moldy smell” in both bathrooms.  The Wednesday night small group volunteered to address the problems as one of their programs once some recommendations were made.

Consistory retreat is January 28th past and present consistory members are welcome.

Pastor Rich expressed thanks on behalf of the church to Chuck Gzemski, Rob Ramsen , Linda Jones, Shirley Hoppes and John Breece for their time and efforts on the consistory.
