February’s
communion will go to “makeitrightnola.org” a program set up to rebuild homes in New Orleans’s 9th ward. Motion was approved.

It was noted that the stewardship drive yielded the smallest number of returns in 5 years. Some folks didn’t receive their pledges until after the drive.

CHURCH AND FAMILY LIFE
Worship will focus on God’s words of wisdom for the new year. With a challenge to read a chapter a day in Proverbs.

40 Days with the Son will be the focus during Lent. Ash Wednesday is March 6 and services will be at our church this year. Easter is March 23.

EDUCATION
Excellent reports were received on this year’s
Christmas pageant.
Next week the S.S. will host a Birthday party for Jesus.

Children’s Church for 1-5 year olds has been quite successful and they made need some more help.

Confirmation class is going well as is Jr. Youth group.

Sr. Youth Group is about ¼ of the way to reaching their goal with the golf outing, Spag. dinner yet to come. This year they will also sell pizza kits and people are encouraged to suggest “night out” fundraiser’s at their favorite establishment.

ADULT EDUCATION
The study of the
book of Revelation has been very successful and will continue after the new year.

PROPERTY
The
fall workday was quite successful. Plans to have the floors waxed were discussed as was the water heater for the church bathrooms and the pot hole in the parking lot.

Drainage is still a problem around the Ed. building, We may need to contract someone to handle that since time is an issue.

The stained glass window in the Ed. building needs to be repaired.

OLD BUSINESS
Problems with non church members using our parking lot on Sunday morning are being addressed. Some neighbors were less than happy however there were no “extra” cars in the lot last Sunday.

NEW BUSINESS
Pastor presented a proposal regarding his medical insurance. For the past 7 years has waived medical coverage since he was covered under Diane’s policy with Rutgers. His coverage under Diane’s policy in her new position will be very costly. He made a proposal to obtain coverage through “Multiplan” until he can again be covered under Diane’s. Motion was approved with 2 abstentions.

The Hammond RT3 organ in the chapel is in need of repair which will cost way more than it is worth. A motion to find a new home for it, as is, was approved.

A NJ Blood service drive will be held in March. The motion was approved.

Some new ministries were presented for discussion at the consistory retreat.

Several benevolence requests, totaling $ 2700 were discussed. It’s been a hard financial year for a number of our local folks. Financial assistance from the church was delivered.

A motion to adjourn was made by Frank D. and 2nd by so many I couldn’t pick just one! Prayer requests were collected and we closed in prayer.

Respectfully submitted,
Jack Perry
