March 2002

Greetings

“You left the light on again in the shed.” complained his wife.

“What are you talking about I haven’t been in the shed all day.” Responded the husband.

Never-the-less he looked out the window.  The light was indeed on, but not because he forgot to shut it off, but because there were thieves in the shed.

He picked up the phone and called the police.  The police dispatcher told him that no police cars were in the area, thus no one was available to catch the thieves.

He hung up the phone, counted thirty and called back.  “I just called you about thieves in my shed.  Well don’t worry, I just shot them.”

Within minutes six police cars surrounded the house and the thieves were caught.

“I thought you said, ‘You had shot them’.”  Said a policeman.

The husband replied, “I thought you said there was no one available.”

Unfortunately this scenario happens very often not by the police but by you and me.  Every time you are asked to do something and you say, “I don’t have the time.”  But what you real meant was that I don’t care to be bothered.  It’s not important to me.

In truth if it was important to you, you would find or rather make the time.  I am not saying we should find time to do every thing.  What I am saying is that you and I make choices.  Take out your calendar and look at how you have spent your time.  Like your checkbook, your calendar reveals your choices, your priorities.  Your calendar and checkbook disclose what is important to you.

Paul said,

“Be very careful, then how you live -
not as unwise but as wise,
making the most of every opportunity,
because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be foolish,
but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

(Eph 5:15-17)

The cross of Jesus proclaims that your life and salvation is important to God.

How important is God to you?  How important is your salvation?  What does your calendar and checkbook reveal about God’s importance in your life?

YOU choose those things that are of greatest importance.  Be careful that your choices are those things that are also most important to God.

Have a Blessed Easter!
