HIGHLIGHTS OF FEBRUARY CONSISTORY MEETING

Pastor Rich read the following correspondence from Joyce Kilmer School, requesting an ad for the 8th Grade Banquet.  Motion to place ad for $65.00 was accepted.

The minutes were reviewed from the consistory meeting of January 10, 2002.

Motion to approve Minutes was accepted.

The financials were then reviewed. Motion to approve financials was accepted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

CHURCH  OFFICE - the Tidings deadline is today, February 21.

CHURCH AND FAMILY LIFE -Maryanne reported on topics discussed at Ministry Team meeting: Ways of improving attendance; a plan of outreach into the community; Milltown Pride Day, Plan to improve and re-instate the Prayer Chain; Adult family retreat; CROP Walk; Covenant Players and plans to initiate small group ministry. Norma reported 132 communed on February 17.  Thanked consistory members who served communion.  Stressed need for all consistory members to be available to serve.  Team II scheduled for Maundy Thursday and Team I & III for Easter.

EDUCATION - Linda expressed positive response to being a guest reader at Sunday School.  Encouraged all to try it.  Jack encouraged all to stop by Sunday School.  Committee met and discussed a possible Family Retreat.  Need for a Summer Sunday School Coordinator and teachers.  Rita Migliore and Elana Kircher have begun working on Vacation Bible School

FINANCE - Jim reported the committee’s goal this year is NOT to have a deficit.  Discussion focused on investments, possible will notification to church.  Consistory members discussed need to show breakdown of church expenses to congregation at Congregational meeting and through the Tidings.

PROPERTY AND GROUNDS - Carol reported Spring Cleanup on April 13. Pastor Rich confirmed that both the wall and the fence belong to St. Paul’s and the property behind the Education Building will be donated to St. Paul’s in the near future.

MUSIC COMMITTEE - Pastor Rich reminded us that Hamilton Choir is expected to arrive on March 22 at approximately 3:00 p.m.  Dot Madell to provide dinner at 5:00 p.m.  Concert will start at 7:30 and run approximately 1½ hours.  Refreshments will follow.  Families are asked to give breakfast to choir members before bringing them back to church Saturday morning.

RESTORATION - Committee meeting is next Sunday.  Sue will discuss possible fundraiser.

NEW BUSINESS

Interfaith Network of Care - notice of upcoming retreat on March 18 for people in the Autumn of Life.

Looking for someone to run a Rummage Sale this year.

Request from Bob Rask, Milltown Theater Group to use Social Hall for rehearsals March through June on Friday Nights.  Motion to allow group to use hall was accepted.

Anna Hippeli has requested membership without need to go through New Member Class.  Motion to welcome Anna into congregation was accepted.

Watched video from Faith Highway, series of commercials made to promote your church.  Discussion to go the next step and investigate costs involved.

Elders/Deacons meeting scheduled February 25, 2002 postponed.

The next meeting is March 14, 2002.
