MARCH 2008
Greetings,

Song writer Eddie Espinosa penned the lyrics,

Change my heart, Oh God
Make it ever true.
Change my heart, Oh God
May I be like You.

You are the potter,
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me,
This is what I pray.

I have sitting on my desk a handmade piece of pottery made by my son Adam when he was in the 6th grade (seems like only yesterday). The bowl is a one of a kind.  I am certain there is none exactly like it anywhere in the world.

If you have ever made a piece of pottery you know that even the smallest and simplest pieces require the same preparation as prize winning works of art.

Clay must be prepared correctly. This involves removing all the impurities out of the clay so that it will not crack when it's put into the kiln. The removal of the impurities requires that the potter must pound and knead the clay many times. Then the potter shapes the vessel as he desires. The vessel is then placed in a kiln where it is exposed to 240 degrees of heat or more. The end result is a strong, usable, high quality vessel.

When you sing Change my heart, oh God do you realize what you are asking God to do with your heart, your attitudes, your thoughts, and your behavior. Are you truly willing to surrender your life to the loving hands of God and allow Him to mold and make you?

Do you trust that God is using your trials and difficulties as the potter pounds and kneads the clay, to strengthen you and to remove impurities?

Do you realize how important worshipping, reading God’s Word, spending time in prayer, and serving others are methods of preparation so that God can mold and make us more like Him?

Our awesome God loves us so much. In His grace and mercy He reaches down to touch our lives and change our hearts. May this song remind you of all that God has done in your heart.

Change my heart, Oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart, Oh God
May I be like You.

God can change our heart. The question is, are you willing to change? Are you willing to allow God to change your heart so you may be filled with His joy, His peace, His love? Are you willing to allow God to change your heart so you have hope in the future and so you truly love and serve others. In short, do you want to be more like Him?

In Christ
