Do You Know Both?

Most people seem to know that John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have life everlasting.”

But how many people know what 1 John 3:16 states?

“Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”1 John 3:16

Do we choose to remember John 3:16 before 1 John 3:16 because we want the privileges of faith more than the responsibilities of faith?

Are You Blessed by St. Paul’s?

St. Paul’s has always been a part of my life.  My memories are tied into this blessed place.  When I started Sunday School, as frightened as any five year old, St. Paul’s was there.  As I struggled with school and with growing up, St. Paul’s was there.  When I nervously was tested by the Elders before being confirmed, St. Paul’s encouraged me.  When I married, St. Paul’s was there.  St. Paul’s was there for the christening of my children and for the burial of my parents and my husband.

In times of stress, of joy, of life challenges and even in the days of routine boredom, St. Paul’s is my rock, a rock that I often take for granted.  But if I ask myself, “What I would do if St. Paul’s were not there?”, I realize how empty my life would be.  I thank God for St. Paul’s and for the steadfastness of God’s love that it represents to me.

Dear Rev. Weyer,

Please accept our heartfelt “thank you” for the cheerful and generous reception provided by St. Paul’s congregation on February 14 in “Educator Appreciation”.

Indeed, we sincerely appreciate the warm welcome and bountiful luncheon enjoyed by our teachers, support staff, and administrators. We wish especially to acknowledge the cadre of congregants who were on – hand to ensure that the splendid luncheon was served joyfully and impeccably. The festivities were replete with favors; each participant will treasure the elegant rose he or she received, wrapped in wonderful words spreading hopeful wishes.

I truly was touched by everyone’s tremendous thoughtfulness in honoring my birthday, and helping me to celebrate it with a spectacular birthday cake. How clever of your congregation to have discovered my Valentine birthday!

Thank you for the wonderful work you and your congregation do in Milltown, and for embracing our school – community in the fellowship of interdependent connectedness we all share.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Anne Evangelista
Superintendent
