COMMITTEE REPORTS

CHURCH AND FAMILY LIFE;  Motion made to purchase 150 copies of Extravagant Grace devotional for women, to be distributed on Mother’s Day approved.  May 1 is National Day of Prayer.  There will be a combined churches candlelight service at Boro park at 7:30 p.m.  Milltown Rescue Squad & Junior Squad will be invited to worship on May 18.  Coffee Hour to be in their honor.  Consistory will lead worship at Parker Home on Sunday, April 13Alice Myers has asked to step down as Greeter coordinator.

EDUCATION:  the March 31st Children at the Lord’s Table discussion group was in agreement that a method of instruction must be developed to prepare children before receiving communion and to reinforce the understanding of communion of all children presently receiving. Agreed that children mature very differently, therefore hesitate at setting a minimum age. We wish to respect the traditions and wishes of every parent in determining time of communion. It would be strongly suggested that a child be of school age before he/she received communion.  Second meeting planned for April 14th to look at methods of instruction and of implementation.

Senior Youth Group will be going to Brooklyn from 6/29-7/4.

ADULT EDUCATION:“God Will Answer” group doing well.  Wednesday group still working on Book of Proverbs. All invited to join either group.

FINANCE: Asked Carolyn to provide budget 2002/2003 comparison for first quarter report.

PROPERTY AND GROUNDS: The Education Building will be closed the week of April 21-26 for lead paint removal.  Spring Yard Clean-up scheduled for Saturday, May 3. Clean-up to include grounds cleanup and parking lot. The shed floor and roof has deteriorated beyond repair.  A shed is needed to store lawn mower, power tools, shovels, etc.

RESTORATION:  Committee to meet end of month. Check to Restoration is needed to be written from the raffle.  Anticipate $2,200 - $2,300 profit from raffle.  Work to begin as soon as we get approval from Boro regarding placement of scaffolding and overhead wires.

OLD BUSINESS: Positive comments received for Easter postcards.

NEW BUSINESS: approximately seventy people attended the Congregational Chats. Analysis of the survey distributed at Chats was examined by consistory.  Consistory also discussed ways to personally contact members and better inform total membership of suggested new ministry strategies.

Consistory will call a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, May 4, 2003 at 11:30 to share the results with congregation.

Motion to move communion to the first Sunday of each month beginning 3rd Quarter approved.

ADVERTISING: WCTC will air St. Paul’s message three times a day from Palm Sunday through Good Friday, and six times on Holy Saturday.

After praying for an extensive Prayer list, motion to adjourn.  Next meeting will be on May 8.

Respectfully Submitted,
Carol Lagowski
Church Secretary
