What do a screaming baby, a thirsty deer and an Olympic sprinter have in common?

HINT: “Like newborn babies crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” - 1 Peter 2:12

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God, My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” - Ps 42:1-2

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” - 1 Cor. 9:24

ANSWER: Desire

The three scripture verses present us vivid pictures of intense desire, particularly intense desire for God.

Panting, hungering, thirsting and craving - does that describe your life in Christ?

Jesus said that only those who deeply desire, who “hunger and thirst for righteousness” will be satisfied (Mt 5:6)

Jesus consistently invited people to thirst, for and to desire more in life than earthly pursuits, happiness and possessions.

Easter is more than a once a year celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Easter is more than doing one’s duty or fulfilling one’s obligation.

Easter is an invitation to desire, to yearn and to crave God on a daily basis.

God’s sending of His Son, Jesus, testifies to the truth that God intensely desires for us to desire Him.

I encourage you to daily pray Psalm 63.1 “My soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
