HIGHLIGHTS OF REGULAR MONTHLY
CONSISTORY MEETING
April 12, 2007

Pastor Rich opened the meeting with a devotional and prayer at 8:05 p.m.

Motion passed to approve March 15 minutes. Motion to approve March financials passed. Motion passed to transfer $30,000 from investments into checking account.

Correspondence:
Children’s Wish Foundation given to Finance Committee to consider for a communion offering.
Pepperidge Farm discount given to Gary for coffee hour.
Request from Milltown 4th of July committee for donation. Motion passed to donate $600 to the Milltown 4th of July committee.

Finance and Administration:
May
Communion Offering – Hospice Program of the Visiting Nurses Assoc.
Finance Committee to come up with a statement to go with quarterly reports.

Church and Family:
Team 1 will prepare communion for May 6. Team 2 will prepare communion for May 27, Pentecost – confirmation
National Day of Prayer is May 3rd. Milltown churches were invited to participate.
(
YAM (Young Adult Ministry) unable to participate in Habitat for Humanity, as no local projects. Group will find another project, possibly with the UCC for the beginning of June.
There was
no interest in participating in the July 4th Parade.

Education:
Teacher’s Meeting – major discussion on needing better communication between consistory and teachers. Suggestion that a survey be generated to help open doors. Confusion on role of Sunday School Superintendent, how teachers should teach curriculum, team teaching, etc.
Junior Youth GroupElana Kircher will be taking charge of JYG, Dawn Ramsen will move up to SYG. Bake Sale 4/29 to raise money for school kits. After bake sale, JYG will go shopping for items, then make up the kits. Cash donations greatly needed for this project.
Confirmation will be held on May 27th
Adult Education7 week study of Ephesians will begin: Tuesday, May 1-June 12 at 7:30 pm and Wednesday, May 2-June 13 at 1 pm

Property & Grounds:
Recent Boiler Inspection had new state recommendation that Dick MacDowell has been working on.
Prioritized Task list: will start with upping electric in Good Day Classrooms for air conditioning (as well as in Chapel). Set a workday.
Sign(s) needed for the parking lot “Private Property, etc.”
Discussed frustration with being a good neighbor and having too many cars sitting in the lot. Impact on insurance and snow removal issues.

Spiritual Council
Met on March 26th to review membership.

Old Business:
Fox Faith – offer for free installation and basic Direct TV service.
Motion passed to try it.
Kathleen reviewed Child, Youth, Volunteer & Staff Protection Policy, she will need time to discuss implications and recommendation at next month’s meeting.
Pastor Rich considering using Continuing Education time to write devotional on 366 Biblical commands.

New Business:
Letter from the
New Jersey Association sternly inviting Pastor Rich to meeting this week or lose dual membership. Pastor Rich reported that he attended meeting. The issue is that the Association wants greater participation from Pastor and St. Paul’s in the Association.

Consistory meetingsMay 10th, June 14th at 8:00 p.m.
Ministry Team Meetings same dates 7-8 p.m.
Minutes and reminders will be sent to those with e-mail addresses.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 10:15 p.m. Next Consistory meeting will be on May 10th.
