St. Paul's and Pastor Rich's E-mail address has changed.  The pages that are accessed through the button links on the Home Page have been changed but most of the past sermon's pages, past "Thoughts for the Week" and past "Christian Monitor News Letter" pages have not.  There are too many. Don't use the E-mail links on those pages.  The new E-mail address is:

June, 2005

Greetings,

The other day I clicked on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes daily devotional and was greeted with the words, "Are you fat?"

I must admit it was not the kind of question that I expected. I have put on a few pounds since my college days, but I would say that I am not fat. My surprise turned to bewilderment when I read the days passage of scripture.

"All scripture is inspired by God
and is profitable for teaching,
for rebuking, for correcting,
for training in righteousness,
so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Before reading on, I tried to figure out where this devotional was going. Not able to make the connection I read further. The author of this devotion conveyed a story where he was asked, “Are you fat?"

His look of surprised led the person who asked the question to respond, "Not that kind of fat!"

“He went on to tell me that the "FAT" he had been talking about stood for Faithful, Available and Teachable. He went on to say that we need FAT people involved in the ministry. What a great thought! We most certainly do need FAT people in every area of life. Teachers need to be FAT. Coaches need to be FAT. Pastors need to be FAT. Parishioners need to be FAT. Teenagers need to be FAT. The list goes on and on. The question now is. . Are you FAT?

Are you Faithful to your church? Your family? Your Lord?

Are you Available to help, serve, or even listen?

Are you Teachable in your sport? At your school? In your walk with Christ?

Are you FAT?

Where do you struggle in being faithful, available and teachable?

Have you put Jesus first in your life so that you can become FAT in Him?

Today, where can you be more FAT in Christ?

My hope is that we can be a church that is FAT in Christ. God needs you to be Faithful, Available and Teachable for His purposes and His glory.

Becoming FAT in Christ requires having daily portions of God’s Word.

"All scripture is inspired by God
and is profitable for teaching,
for rebuking, for correcting,
for training in righteousness,
so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

2 Timothy 3:16-17

So that you may be FAT.

In Christ,

.
