The following letter was
received by Sharon Rahman
from Capt. Michael Vaccaro. Mike is a friend of the
Rahman family, based in Mosul, Iraq, and was one of
the recipients of the cookies sent for Valentine’s Day.

Mrs. Rahman and members of St. Paul’s Church,
Thank you very much for the Valentine’s Day
gift. The cookies are fantastic and we are really enjoying them and
devouring them mighty fast. I wish there were some way to repay you
for your kindness. I hope that my gratitude in some way measures up.
It really warms my heart to know that people like you care for us
back in the real world.
The elections were a very
exciting time for us. It made me very proud to be an American. It
was amazing to see all the Iraqis vote. It really gave a purpose to
our mission. I have nothing but high hopes and respect for the
people of Iraq. Democracy, regardless of religion, will be
successful here. I completely believe in our mission here, and will
do my best to facilitate it. I am proud to serve the people of our
nation, people like yourselves, and the people of Iraq.
Thank you again. I do not
think you realize how much your letter and package touched me.
