June, 2006

Greetings,

In a recent daily devotional from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes a player was told, by his coach before returning to the field, “Leave your glove in the dugout. You haven’t been using it the last couple of innings.”

The coach made the remarks because the player had been very lazy going after the ball and committed several errors. The point the coach was making to his player was that if he was going to take the field he needed to use all his talents, equipment and attitude if he was going to make a difference.

This is true in the church. If we are going to make a difference we need every member to use their God given talents to glorify God and to build up the body of Christ.

Presently we are embarking on a hospitality ministry. The first goal of this ministry is to have every one of our 25 home bound individuals or families adopted. We are seeking 2-3 families who would like to make a difference for one of our home bound members. This could entail being in touch with them by mail or phone. It could involve making a visit or providing a ride.

The Friday night 40 Days of Community small group has compiled a list of names and needs. They are now seeking your help. Please contact Elana Kircher in church or at 732-296-1516 to offer your love and talents.

There is a second area of ministry that is also in need of your help, our Education Ministry. There is a possibility will need 4 or 5 new Sunday school teachers this fall. We have indeed been blessed with a deeply committed staff of teachers, who have faithfully taught our children for several decades and some are now passing the torch to someone else to carry.

Are you willing to accept the torch of teaching our children; to team up with one or two other adults and share a class? If you are willing to teach please be in contact with Pete Herral 732-246-1330 (work) by June 8th.

There is a third area of ministry that is also in need of your help. Paul Villarreal has tendered his letter of resignation effective June 30th. Let me express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Paul for his service to us. Paul’s leaving presents us with the task of finding an organist/choir director. If you know of anyone who plays the organ please let me know at 732-828-0020.

As always I ask that you lift up these three ministries in your prayers. May we together seek God’s will for St. Paul’s.

Prayerfully yours in Christ

.
