Highlights of
Consistory Meeting

May 11, 2006

Pastor Rich opened the meeting with devotional “Shepherds and Butchers” and prayer at 7:35 p.m.
Motion to approve April 6 and April 9 minutes passed.
Motion to approve April financials passed.

Correspondence:

Request from Milltown 4th of July Committee. Motion to spend $600 to sponsor 4th of July event approved.
Thank you letter was received from Special Olympics.
Central Atlantic Conference will hold a Stewardship Committee Workshop.
Letter of Resignation from Paul Villarreal. Motion to accept resignation.

Finance and Administration:

June Communion offering will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Church and Family:

Communion - June 4th - Team 4. National Day of Prayer Service went well.
Parker Home Worship - June 11th

Education:

Sunday School is finishing the Baptism study. Will study the Apostle’s Creed next. June 4th Sunday School cancelled. Kids should be in worship to watch confirmation. June 18 is last Sunday school class.
Junior Youth Group will have last meeting on May 21 They will have a pool party during the summer.
Senior Youth Group will have a car wash on May 21 and on June 11; and two dinner fundraisers at TGI Fridays on May 18 and June 6.
Meetings in June will be dedicated to mission trip participation.
Confirmation will be June 4 at 10:00 a.m. 22 students will be confirmed during worship service.
Faith Statements will be reviewed by Elders on Wednesday, May 31.
Adult Education has finished the Lord’s Prayer.

Property & Grounds:

Received estimate from Nastus Brothers for air conditioning. Other
estimates are being sought.
Inspection of Social Hall & Upstairs Hallway floors shows we need to remove and replace broken tiles.
Installation of Education Building Windows scheduled for June.
Health Dept. Inspection of Kitchen and Social Hall was satisfactory.

Spiritual Council:

Letter to inactives was reviewed. Motion to send letter to all inactives approved.

Old Business:

Gary Conger voiced his opposition to Sr. Youth Group using their funds to pay for sign change. Pastor Rich felt the Sr. Youth Group should give back something to the church for the tremendous support.

New Business:

Motion to replace carillon as proposed by Schulmerich Company. Money to be used from Memorial fund.
Request from Tabernacle of Glory to use chapel for Sunday afternoon worship. Request approved.
Pastor Rich brought up pros and cons of having a student minister. He would prefer to wait another year before hiring a student minister. Consistory agreed.
Discussion centered on need for new Sunday School teachers to fill 4 vacancies and add to current staff. Depending on the response from congregation, we may have to consider other alternatives.

Next Meetings:

Elders meet with Confirmation Class on May 31 at 7:30 in the Sanctuary.
Ministry Team Meeting - June 11th
Next Consistory meeting will be on June 8.
