Women's Guild

Regular meeting was held on Wednesday, May 9. This was our annual In Gathering meeting.

The meeting was opened with devotions by
Phyllis Anderson. Her scripture reading related to Dorcas and how she was a woman who helped others. This brought back thoughts of when our church had a Dorcas Society, Mrs. Caroline Hoelzer was President and Ruth Karren’s mother was Secretary and Treasurer. Point of interest, 1941 the Society merged along with Ladies Aid Society and Women’s Missionary Society into one organization for women, the Women’s Guild as to where we are today.

Phyllis had another reading which brought chuckles as she read from “Help Lord I’m Having a Senior Moment”.

Treasurer’s report accepted as given.

President
Donna Young stated this is our last meeting until the fall in October.

The Guild thanks all those who generously contributed to our In Gathering.

Thanks to
Bunny Theurich and Donna for the delicious refreshments. They were mighty ‘yummie’.

Ruth C. Karren
Secretary

Martha Circle

The Martha Circle met on Monday, April 23 at noontime with the leader, Ruth Karren opening the meeting with a prayer. We all brought our lunch and enjoyed Christian fellowship together.

Ruth’s program centered around special hymns signifying the days before Easter and then the triumph joy of the days following the resurrection of Jesus. The words of each hymn were indeed meaningful and inspiring.

The
next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 29th at 11:30 am in the Social Hall – Doris Weber will have devotions.

We closed our meeting with the singing of the hymn entitled
“He Lives” – the musical arrangement is beautiful and the words touched our heart.

Secretary

Worship Field Trip

On Sunday, May 20th about twelve members of our youth group, young adults, and chaperones traveled to Manhattan to attend an Evensong worship service at St. Thomas. It was a first-ever train ride for one student and a first-ever trip to NYC for another! We were able to attend a service radically different from our usual worship, with high Anglican liturgy and a world-famous choir. Afterward, we walked through Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park, and Times Square. Thanks to all who attended for this day of worship and fellowship.
