Test YOUR Bible Power
ANSWERS

Last month we issued the following challenge.  Here are the answers.

Conflict in the Middle East is not new.  The Bible records many clashes between Israel and surrounding countries. Test your knowledge of these Biblical enemies of Israel.

1. In Jesus’ day these enemies had conquered the entire nation of Israel and imposed high taxes? (Isaiah 53:5)

Romans

2. This nation initially welcomed the Israelites but later enslaved them.  God sent Moses to demand that pharaoh let the Israelites go? (Gen 41:40)

Egyptians

3. This nation overcame Samson by cutting his hair. Later, their champion Goliath was defeated by David? (Judges 16)

Philistines

4. Joshua led Israel’s army in battle to expel them from the Promised Land? (Numbers 33:51-53)

Canaanites

5. Queen Esther’s intervention saved the Jews from this nation? (Exodus 17:14 or Book of Esther)

Amalekites

6. These traditional enemies of Israel descended from Abraham’s nephew, Lot? (Genesis 19:36,37)

Moabites

7. A huge army of this nation was defeated by Gideon and only 300 men? (Judges 6,7)

Midianites

Here are some tips:

Pray simple prayers

Take time to listen

Keep a journal

Pray the scriptures

Use hymns or devotionals

Ask a friend to pray for you and with you.

I am asking you to join me in prayer on

To All Women’s Guild Members

I would like to take a minute to thank all the ladies for the energy with which they have applied themselves on the many activities and projects during the past years as I served as your president.  Everyone was always willing to cooperate when a request was made.  We served meals, prepared favors, extended ourselves to the community and gave very freely of our time, talent and treasures.

Thank you for the gift certificate and card you presented to me at our last meeting.  I know you will extend the same cooperation to Donna Young as she becomes our new president.  She is very willing to plan exciting things for our future and will certainly do a great job.  May God continue to bless our Guild members and Donna.

Sincerely,
Doris Weber

Hello all,

Just an update of my trip. I have just returned from a 4-day safari at Kruger Park. It was fantastic!  I cannot believe the sights that I have had the privilege to behold.  I saw what the Africans call the “Big Five” game animals (leopard, lion, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), but a whole lot more.  We totaled 28 different animals and a ton of various birds, which are just so extraordinary here.  I have a lot of great video footage to share when I return.

You would not believe the night sky here.  The stars are so close you feel like you can just reach up and touch them.  The Milky Way is right here!  And Mars shines so bright, you can almost see the red color.  The constellation called the “Southern Cross” is the highlight along with Scorpio, which is gigantic in the sky here.

I also had the opportunity to preach on safari! Wednesday evening at Kruger.  It was a praise and worship service and they asked me if I would bring the Word.  What an experience and joy that was!  “In and out of season”.

Prior to the safari, I was treated to a trip to the National Botanical Gardens and I was privileged to see the Black Eagles.

Next week a couple is taking me to another part of the bush for a few days and I am told that I will see some nice game there as well.

Dr. Phil Hazelton from Worthington Presbyterian in Columbus, Ohio was here last week to bring the annual St. Columba’ Lecture.  I missed the lecture because it was Tuesday night and we were gone, but I heard him preach the prior Sunday and he was good. It was our church’s 80th anniversary. Remember the wine auction?  It went well.  The church made R110,000 which is about $14,000 US.  That’s a lot of wine!  I bought a souvenir magnum that I will bring home.

One of the members has donated another car for my use and it is nicer than the first one, so that’s a blessing.  It is locked in a different place, so hopefully, prayerfully, it won’t get stolen!

Well, that’s it for now.  All is well and God is blessing.  I will preach here again on the first Sunday.

Love to all,
Rhonda
