Men of St. Paul’s

The Men of St. Paul’s met on June 4th for dinner and fellowship. Greg Weyer offered a word of prayer, welcome back Greg, and we proceeded to enjoy a wonderful meal of - you guessed it - roast beef. The meal was delicious and this time we didn’t have to prepare it. Thank you Dot for your help and support all year. In the absence of both Dennis and Jed, Greg H. presided over the meeting which followed. He said he didn’t have much to discuss. The roast beef dinner was discussed. We served about 325 meals and earned a profit of about $1560.00. We would like to thank all who helped, especially the ladies who made desserts. Again, a special thanks to Ray Woody and to Dot Madell for their hard work and time. We discussed why ticket sales and therefore profit were down this year and decided that among other things, the date change probably had the greatest effect. We decided to set the date for next years roast beef dinner at May 11th, returning to the Saturday night before Mother’s Day. So mark your calendars. While you’re at it - mark October 13th as well. That is when we’ll have the roast pork dinner. Greg said that he had purchased two large drink coolers for use at various functions. The coolers were ridiculously inexpensive so we decided we should purchase another. The discussion then proceeded to the possibility of a format change to try to draw more people to the meetings. The suggestions included changing some meetings to Saturday or Sunday mornings for communion breakfasts, different week nights, more bible study and prayer meetings. Another suggestion was to invite more speakers for combined men’s and women’s meetings and/or for families with children. Speakers would include Major Hugo Stockburger to discuss his role in the Lindberg baby kidnapping, and an attorney to discuss estate planning. An outing to Habitat for Humanity was suggested as well as combining our meeting with church workdays. In April we will try to host another CPR class this year, since those who were certified at the last one will be due for retraining. Wow, I’m glad Greg didn’t have much to discuss!! Our next meeting will be in September, we plan to have a joint men’s/women’s meeting and are hoping that Rhonda will be able to give us a presentation on her mission work in South Africa this summer. Have a great summer. Respectfully

Women’s Guild

Regular meeting was held on Wednesday, June 13th. We were pleased with the increase in attendance. Dot Klesitz had devotions. Her message was “How To Pray” and “Authoritative Prayer”. Business meeting followed with President Doris Weber presiding. On June 7th several members of the Guild attended the Brownie Fly Up. The Brownies did a fine job and sang their Brownie songs for us. Those ice cream sundaes were also delicious. End of the year Circle reports were given. Evelyn Junker reported for the Martha and Esther Circle. The Circle had several craft projects throughout the year. Chris Schmidt reported for the Sarah Circle. They have several mission projects, Feed The Children, Salvation Army and nursing homes. Their study was the Beatitudes. The church picnic is on September 9th. Doris is in need of help. If you can be of assistance, give her a call. Elected Officers of the next year will be: President - Donna Young Secretary - Ruth Karren Treasurer - Grace Novello An appreciation gift was presented to Doris, our outgoing President, for her devotion and untiring efforts to the Guild. Thank you Doris. We wish all a happy, healthy and safe summer. God Bless all and we will see you in September. Ruth C.
