How Your OCWM
Dollars are Spent

Each congregation in the United Church of Christ depends on the faithful and generous giving of its members to fund the church’s mission and ministries.

Congregations decide how much of their members’ financial support they will contribute to Our Church’s Wider Mission for the funding of Conference and national ministries. Each Conference, the regional setting of the church, decides how much of its congregations’ financial support it will contribute to Our Church’s Wider Mission for the funding of national ministries.

Our Church’s Wider Mission has two components: Basic Support and Special Support.  National Basic Support provides funding for the core programs of UCC national ministries.   Special Support provides funding for specific mission opportunities through the four special mission offerings of the UCC: One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen the Church, Neighbors in Need and the Christmas Fund.

Greetings From SonCanyon!

Our Vacation Bible School program just wrapped up after a fun filled week “rafting” and “camping” on the SonCanyon River Adventure!  From July 29th to August 2nd, fifty-four children and a group of SonCanyon Wise Guides enjoyed learning the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs, singing, crafts and friendship.  Now we have to say some BIG THANK YOU’s!

Our thanks to:
Pastor Rich - Our Head Wise Guide - He was his usual energetic self despite the dreadful heat and humidity and he had the pleasure of spending the week with eleven young FEMALE campers.  New territory for a man with two sons.
Our Wise Guide Teaching Staff:
Sue Dowling; Patti Lynch, Deb Roca, Linda Griffin, Garret Conger, Linda Jones, Nicole Fricke, Joanne Perry, Diane Lagowski and her cousin, Lynne Ricicki - the children are blessed to have such a caring and talented group of people sharing their love of God with them.
Elana Kircher - the Craft Wise Guide - and her staff: Laura Pelszynski, Pat Hudak, Sandy Kapler and Christina Conger - each year the crafts are amazing and this year was no exception.  The children really enjoyed making them.
Our Kitchen Ladies;
Shirley Hoppes, Grace Novello and Margaret Schmidt - they prepared snacks and juice each day and kept the kitchen in tip-top shape all week.
Carol Lagowski - for the administrative help and constant support of the program.
Special thanks to
Flo Torok for making cassette tapes for each of the families attending our program - to help keep them tapping their toes through the year.
Special thanks to the
Migliore, Voorhees and Weber Families
for their generous donations.
The
parents, grandparents and families for sharing your beautiful children with us and for turning out for our closing program.  We hope you could feel, see and hear all the excitement of what we learned on our “trip.”

Our program has been made possible for eight years now by the generous giving of time and talent by all those listed above. Be sure to say “thanks” to them for sharing their love of God with the children.  I could not do this without them.  Although it may look like a lot of work, just ask any of them how much fun this week winds up being.  We hope that you will join in on the fun with us next summer.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer and see you in Sunday School!
