Three Choices

As we review the many problems of our world, we have three choices: to make them worse; to ignore them; or to make them better.

Through your offering you can do your part to help and to heal. With heartfelt gratitude, bring your offerings to bring wholeness to our broken land.

Your faithful giving is necessary to cancel your church’s $41,260.85 deficit that we have as of August 31.

WTC Relief Fund

A check for $4,953 was sent to help with the World Trade Center Relief Fund.  This money reflects the Sunday, September 16th offering and some additional offerings that were received in the church office.

Women’s Guild

We joined the Men’s Group on Wednesday, October 19 for our first meeting of the Fall.

After a delicious dinner by Dot Madell, Rhonda, our student minister, spoke to us about her recent assignment in Africa.  We were also shown a video of the countryside.

Donna Young, Guild President, reminded us of the following dates.  We are to supply food for the following.

September 28 - Chinese Auction - Finger food

October 13 - Men’s Roast Pork Dinner - bake cakes

October 20 - Haunted House - Finger food

Our regular Guild meeting will be October 10th.  Come join us for devotion.  Arlene Kuhlthau, our craft director, will begin our winter craft projects.

Ruth C. Karren
Secretary

Esther & Martha Circle

Our Circle met at the home of Grace Novello on Monday evening, September 17th.  In view of the past week of terrorism, several of our members offered spontaneous meditations; then Marjorie Conger opened our devotions with a prayer of dedication to the victims of the recent terrorism and to the many courageous volunteers - praying that we all stand united behind our country - always remembering “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble”. Marjorie then read the meaningful and inspiring story behind Albrecht Durer’s “Praying Hands”.

The first order of business was a discussion to elect new officers for the coming two years.  Ruth Karren will be our new Leader, Doris Weber Co-Leader and Marjorie Conger Treasurer/Secretary.

Since our group has increased in attendance (and enthusiasm), we decided to hold our monthly meetings in the Parlor Room of the church.

Donna Young, Guild President, enumerated the upcoming Guild programs and reminded us of our various “food” responsibilities (see Guild report).

Arlene Kuhlthau summarized the various benevolent craft projects we have been working on over the past year.  We all agreed to continue with a craft project and Arlene has suggested one for the Christmas holidays.

The next meeting will be held on Monday evening, October 15, 7:30 p.m. in the church Parlor.  Dorothy Klesitz will have devotions and Flo Torok and Dorothy will have refreshments.  And, remember - bring a mug!!!

Marjorie Conger,
Secretary
