Dear St. Paul’s Family,

Thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement and the beautiful flowers! I’m moving slow and steady and looking forward to returning to work.
It’s a blessing to have such a wonderful boss and church family to work with!

Welcome Paul Villarreal

Paul is our new Organist/Choir Director.  He has recently moved to Staten Island from Texas.  He has a Bachelor’s in Music Education. He has taught music for thirteen years and presently teaches music on Long Island.

He has sixteen years experience working as a pianist, organist and choir master.  Paul will begin his work on October 1.  We are very excited and grateful to God to have led Paul to us.

Reception of New Members

New Members will be received into our church on Sunday, November 17th. New Member Orientation Classes will be held on Wednesday, November 6 & 13th at 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall.

If you are interested in joining OR in learning about St. Paul’s, please call the church office at 732-828-0020 by November 3rd.

Women’s Guild

We met with the Men’s group for a dinner meeting on Monday, September 9th in the Social Hall.

The table decorations of red, white and blue were in thought of September 11th.  The Eagle centerpiece was awarded to the person at each table whose birthday was the nearest to that date.

After a welcome by Dennis Lowe of the Men’s Group and Donna Young of the Women’s Group, a delicious dinner prepared by Dot Madell was enjoyed by all along with the yummy desserts.

Our speaker for the evening was Greg Weyer.  He spoke about God’s Word on World Missions.

Our next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall.

Ruth G. Karren,
Secretary

Martha Circle

The Martha Circle met on Monday evening, September 16, 2002 in the Social Hall with our leader, Ruth Karren presiding. Phyllis Anderson led devotions with scripture readings from Proverbs and Psalms and two thought-provoking articles regarding “A Grandparents Crown” and “Mother/Daughter Relations”.
A discussion was held concerning our treasury balance, and it was decided to give
$200.00 to the Guild.
Guild President,
Donna Young, told us about the following Guild activities:

October 9th - Regular Guild meeting
October 12th - make cakes for Men’s Roast Pork Dinner
November 13th - Guild Thank Offering meeting
December 8th - Christmas Family Pot Luck Supper
December 15th - “Cookie Walk”
January 7th (2003) - Guild Brown Bag Lunch Meeting
February 12th - Guild Ingathering Meeting
January 5th, February 2nd & March 2nd - Soup Sale

We discussed some money-making projects.
Arlene Kuhlthau will continue the Cutlery Sale with the help of Flo Torok and Marjorie Conger. (They will be on display at the Men’s Roast Pork Dinner.) Other projects were suggested and will be discussed at a later date.
Dot Klesitz talked about the CROP Walk which will be held on Sunday, October 20th (starting at 3:00 p.m.) and asked for volunteers to make finger foods.
We then had a roundtable discussion of our lives this past summer.  Although health, heat and humidity seem to predominate, we all counted our blessings and each enjoyed the summer in our own way.
Next meeting will be held on October 21st (in the Social Hall). Dot Klesitz will have devotions and Pat Hudak will have refreshments.  Ruth closed the meeting by giving us all “faith cookies”.

Marjorie Conger,
Secretary

Men of St. Paul’s

The Men of St. Paul’s met on September 9 in a joint meeting with the Women’s Guild.  As usual Dot Madell, and her crew, fed us like royalty.  Thank-you Dot and company!

No business was transacted or discussed. Greg Weyer was the invited guest speaker.  I’ll not even try to paraphrase Greg’s talk here.  I’m sorry if you missed it, it was a very uplifting talk.  Greg is obviously a very knowledgeable young man, excited about his future and a very good speaker.  I think we all enjoyed his presentation.  Let me tell you, this guy is really going places!  (pun definitely intended)

Our next meeting is scheduled for October 7.  At which time I expect we’ll be finalizing plans for the Roast Pork Dinner on October 12. I hope to see you there - at the meeting and at the dinner.

Jack Perry,
Secretary

Men’s Meeting Topic of Discussion for October 7.

“Like a rat in a maze, the path before me lies.”
Simon & Garfunkel

Are most men caught up in the rat race of life?  Are you?  Does any man win the rat race?  Why do so many men run it? These questions and others will be the topic of discussion led by Pastor Rich.
