OCTOBER 2003

Greetings,

The writer of a daily devotional I am reading asked the following question, “How often do you tell Jesus, I love you.”

It got me thinking about how some people have great difficulty expressing these three words, I love you.

I have heard men my age, say they don’t recall their father ever saying to them, I love you.  They were quick to point out that they knew their father loved them, but it just wasn’t spoken.

I grew up in a home knowing that I was loved by my father and mother.  I knew this because they revealed that love in their disciplining of me, in their sharing of advice, in their spending of their time, and in their saying, I love you.

Til this day, when we conclude a visit or a phone call we tell each other, “I love you”.  Those words have grown in meaning and depth with each passing day.

As I reflect on my relationship with my parents, I see a correlation with God’s relationship, our heavenly Father’s relationship with me and you.

There is not a day that goes by that God doesn’t say, “I love you.” Each day God provides us with “our daily bread.”  Each day God proves His love that he demonstrated on the cross.

There is a simple story that states when God was asked how much do you love us.  He stretched out His arms on the cross and died for us.

How do you show your love for God?

How often do your words, your deeds, your thoughts, say to God, I love you?

I know my sons love me, as my Dad knows I love him. They don’t have to tell me “I love you” for me to know that.  But, it sure feels great, when they say I love you.

Don’t let another moment pass, go tell your spouse, your kids, your parents, your God, I love you.

In Christ's Love,

"I praise You, Lord,
because You are my light
and my salvation."
Psalm 27:1
