To Men of St. Paul’s

Dear Dennis,

My sincere and heartfelt thanks, and that of the entire Sunday School, for the most generous donation of a brand new 36” television set by the Men of St. Paul’s to the Sunday School.

A special thanks to Greg Henninger, who tirelessly searched for, purchased, and assembled (with the help of Pastor Rich) our new set.

This gorgeous television set has made our Movie Theatre Workshop, the centerpiece of the current rotation workshop Sunday School Program.

This wonderful and much appreciated donation is a prime example of the benevolence and generosity of a remarkable group of Christian Men, of whom I am proud to be a member.

Sincerely,

Peter O. Herral

Superintendent

St. Paul’s U.C.C. Sunday School

Esther & Martha Circle

The Esther and Martha Circle met on Monday evening, October 15th in the Church Parlor with fifteen women present. The Group Leader, Ruth Karren, opened the meeting with a moment of silence, while we all, in our own way, prayed for peace in the world.

Dot Klesitz read a beautiful poem entitled “An Autumn Day” and a meditation “The Gift of Life”. This was a very timely reading illustrating that God is with us always and everywhere - He has given us the gift of life - He will bless us and comfort us, heal and help us.

Ruth, along with Donna Young, Guild President, reviewed the many Guild and church activities. Then we proceeded to make Christmas tray favors for shut-ins under the guidance of Arlene Keelhaul.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. on November 19th in the Church Parlor - Marie Rittman will have devotions and refreshments will be served by Grace Novello and Elaine Dittman.

Ruth gave each one of us an appropriate pumpkin favor - along with a Bible “homework” assignment!!! (Good idea, Ruth!!!)

Secretary

Men of St. Paul’s

The October meeting of the Men of St. Paul’s was held on October 1st. Ray Conger offered an eloquent word of prayer, in Rich’s absence. Our sincere thanks goes to Dot Madell for preparing a wonderful Feste Italiana!  Only ten men were present so there was lots of food.  Ken Junker was an obvious absentee but I guess his recent knee surgery gives him an acceptable excuse - for this month.

After the meal, President Dennis led a discussion of the final plans for the Roast Pork Dinner to be held on October 13th. The menu includes roast pork, red cabbage -oops sorry, sour kraut, mashed potatoes, gravy, and applesauce.  There was also some discussion of peas but that didn’t get too far!

Next Dennis read an update from Treasurer Greg Henninger. The update included some summer expenditures, a 36” television for the new Sunday School program and a donation to the Chinese Auction.

Greg also wrote that our attendance last year averaged about twelve men.  We would like to bring our average up.  If anyone has suggestions on how to increase attendance, please let us know!!

Dennis then read a letter of appreciation to the Men’s group, for the donation of the television from the Sunday School Superintendent, Peter Herral.

Respectfully submitted,

Jack Perry,
Secretary
