Here is Your Invitation!

If you have been waiting for an invitation to participate in the ministry of St. Paul’s, here it is.  The ministry of St. Paul’s is directed by Jesus Christ, and implemented by consistory, the ministry teams and YOU.  On Monday, November 25th the four ministry teams, Finance, Property, Education, and Spiritual Life will meet in the chapel at 7:30 p.m.  The ministry teams have the responsibility of planning and carrying out the ministry we are called by God to do.  YOU are needed to help our church continue to be a faithful witness of Jesus Christ.

Advent Devotionals

Copies of this year’s Advent devotional are in the Narthex of the church. You can pick up your copy NOW. If you are unable to attend worship, call the church office and we will be glad to mail one to you.

Real Meaning of the Zodiac

This monthly study of the gospel message found in the signs of the Zodiac is cancelled.  Each month a brief overview will be found in the Tidings.

If you desire a more in depth explanation ask Pastor Rich for the audiocassette message that he has for each sign.  Or acquire a copy of the book The Gospel in the Stars by Joseph Seiss or The Real Meaning of the Zodiac by Dr. D. James Kennedy.

Scorpio

Scorpio is the third house of the Zodiac.  The major constellation is The Scorpion, which in Arabic means “The Conflict or War”.  This constellation depicts The Scorpion set to sting the man’s heel and the man is ready to crush the scorpion.  The minor constellations are The Serpent-Holder (Ophiuchus) depicts a god-man, known as a great healer struggling with a serpent who is trying to grab the crown.  The Serpent (Serpend) depicts the serpent’s attempt to gain the crown.  The Mighty One (Hercules) depicts a man on one knee with a club raised over his head with a three-headed dragon in his hand and his foot on the head of the dragon.

This third house of the Zodiac reveals the war between Christ and satan.  The identity of Christ is seen in both Ophicuchus and Hercules. The serpent (satan) is attempting to stop the Great Healer from accomplishing His great purpose.  The Great Healer has the power to restrain him and gain victory.  Hercules (Christ) is depicted as fatally bruising satan (the three-headed dragon)

Food For the Hungry

Every communion Sunday you are asked to bring a packaged food item for the hungry in our community.  These food items will be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Lourdes, which provides food monthly for thirty or more Milltown families or to East Brunswick Crisis Center, which provides food monthly for over 100 families.
Both organizations will gladly welcome any and all FREE TURKEYS or super market register receipts for a FREE TURKEY.

Leading an Unexamined Life

The life which is unexamined is not worth living. - PLATO

Let us examine our ways and test them, let us return to the Lord. - Lamentations 3:40

Are you Christian in spirit but secular in practice?  Are there two yous: the visible you that is known by others and the real you that is known by God?

You are invited to join in discussing these quotes and questions at our next Men’s group meeting on Monday night November 4th.  Supper is served at 6:30 p.m.  Discussion will begin around 7:30 p.m.

The Man in the Mirror

We still have copies of this excellent book which should be required reading for any man who is looking for help in solving the everyday problems of life.  Copies are available in the narthex.  Take a copy for yourself and for a friend or neighbor.
