Women's Guild

Guild meeting was held Monday, October 10, 2007 in the Social Hall. The President, Donna Young, led discussions regarding the following:

1. We decided to continue with the Sunday Soup Sale project. Soup will be sold the first Sunday in the months of December, January, February and March.

2. No Guild meeting November and no Thank Offering service.

3. Next Guild Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 12 in the Social Hall at 12:00 noon. We will each bring our own lunch then proceed to assemble Christmas Gift packages for residents of Roosevelt Hospital/Nursing Home.

4. We would like to participate in the church service the first Sunday in February when it is Church Women’s Sunday. Ladies of the congregation will be asked to help with this service. Details will be announced later.

5. After much discussion, it was decided to disband Martha Circle and meet just as a Guild member. The Martha Circle treasury will be turned over to the guild to be used at the appropriate time.

Remember – start saving items for the Nursing Home. See separate page in tidings for items needed.

Letters…

Dear Emily,

I read with great interest your article in the October Tidings concerning our “60” year old beautiful organ. You stated you could not find the cost of the instrument. From the records I will quote.

“A contract we entered into at the latter part of July 1946 with the M.P. Moller Organ Co. of Hagerstown, MD. For a three manual, 32 stop, electro-pneumatic pipe organ with 21 tubular chimes at a cost of $15,830.00 plus 10% federal excise tax---“

Thought you would be interested in this info.

With Kindest Thoughts
