Sunday Adult
Bible Discussion

Jacqueline Rotteveel

is leading a Bible discussion on
Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m.
in the Confirmation Room.

All that is required is an interest
in knowing the Word of God.

Revelation

At God’s appointed time, the risen and ascended Lord will burst onto the world’s scene.  The book of Revelation gives us the details.  It is the last book of the New Testament.  It is also the last book to read to complete your reading of the New Testament in the year 2000.   One chapter each weekday will complete your reading.

Congregational Meeting

On Sunday, November 19th the 2001 budget was explained and approved with the following change, Our Church’s Wider Mission Benevolence and Special Benevolence will be included in the operating budget so the congregation can have a clear picture of the benevolent projects the church supports.

The following slate of consistory
nominees were elected.

James Erb, Steve Kircher and Jack Perry
to a second term as deacon.

Duane Borwegen & Susan Hoiberg
to a first term as deacon.

Grace Kothari
to a second term as elder.

Norma Lowe, Angelo Lizardi, Dorothy Klesitz,
to a first term as elder.

Offering Envelope Change

PLEASE NOTE:  The following change in your weekly envelopes beginning January 2001. The benevolence block has been removed.  This is in response to the motion which was approved at the congregational meeting.

Gains

The last two months, September & October, we have made gains on our summer offering deficit. Your continued faithfulness will enable us to meet all our financial obligations which the ministry we do for Jesus requires.

75

That is the number of faith commitments which have been received through Sunday, November 19th.    THANK YOU for making YOUR commitment.   If you haven’t, please consider doing so.   Stewardship is a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent and treasure allotted to us.

Restoration Update

The GOOD NEWS, is that your faithful support has enabled us to pay back $30,000 of the $60,000 which we borrowed from our endowment fund to pay for completed restoration work.

A new restoration sign adorns the lawn in front of the education building.  It shows that we have completed the first phase of our work and have started Phase Two.

The most immediate work will be the replacement of the heating system in the education building. The installation of a modern and efficient heating system will not only keep us warmer it will save us money especially in light of the escalating cost of gas prices.  The estimated cost is $35,000.  It is our hope that we could install energy conserving windows at the same time.  The estimated cost for these windows is $27,500.

To complete these two projects and pay back our endowment fund we need to raise $92,500 in 2001.  This is NOT an impossible challenge when you consider over $400,000 has been raised for restoration since the Fall of 1997.
