Women’s Guild

Regular meeting was held in the Chapel on Wednesday, November 14th.

Linda Griffin conducted our Thanksgiving Offering Service.  She stressed that we as Americans have so much to be thankful for and in our daily lives should not be so as busy to lose sight of God.  In keeping with our Thanksgiving theme we sang four appropriate hymns; “We Gather Together”, “Count Your Blessings”, “Give Thanks”, and “We are An Offering”.  We had the pleasure of having our Choir Director, Camilla Jarnot play these hymns for us. Thank you Camilla.

Members brought canned goods which were placed on the Altar. This food will be sent to the Crisis Center.

Business meeting followed with President Donna Young, presiding.  Reminder dates for December: Dec. 2 - Cookie Walk - Don’t forget to bake cookies. Dec. 9 Christmas Family Dinner.  Sarah Circle will set up. Dec. 12 - Wrap Nursing Home gifts 9 a.m. Social Hall.

Doris reported she attended the Retirement Dinner for Fran Mickett of the Crisis Center. On our behalf she presented Fran with a gift certificate.

Doris also informed us she will assist the Sarah Circle during Coralee’s absence, due to illness.

Linda Griffin asked if there are any members interested to serve on the Parlor Committee. Committee will not meet until January.

At the conclusion of our meeting we enjoyed delicious refreshments provided by Donna and Catherine Voorhees. We got a head start for Thanksgiving calories!

We will see you at the Christmas Dinner (Dec. 9th) in place of our regular monthly meeting.

Esther & Martha Circle

The Martha and Esther Circles met in the Social Hall on Monday evening, November 19th. Our leader, Ruth Karren, opened the meeting with a prayer of thanks and each member spontaneously responded with their own prayer of thanks.

Marie Rittman led devotions with several appropriate poems, an interesting (and amusing) reading describing a “1779 New England Thanksgiving Dinner” and closed with a Thanksgiving Prayer.

Ruth thanked Linda Griffin for the inspiring Thanksgiving Offering Service at the Guild meeting.

We were reminded of our December activities (see Guild report).

We continued working on our Christmas craft project for shut-ins. Thanks to Ruth, (and a surprise to our craft leader, Arlene Kuhlthau), we now have a theme song dedicated to Arlene. Sorry some of you members missed this rendition!

Next meeting will be held in the Social Hall on Monday evening, December 17th. Marjorie Conger will lead devotions.  Dot Schroff and Arlene Kuhlthau will serve refreshments.  We will not have a grab bag gift exchange - instead we will donate money to the Needy Fund.

Our prayer is that everyone have a
blessed and peaceful
Holiday Season.

Marjorie Conger,
Secretary
