December, 2004

Dear St. Paul’s Family and Friends,

No doubt you have heard about the 40 Days of Purpose and the book the Purpose Driven Life. If you haven’t then you have not been keeping up with St. Paul’s the last several months.

As our 40 Days of Purpose comes to a conclusion, living a purposeful life for God MUST begin and or continue.

The season of Advent provides us with a perfect opportunity to put what we have learned into practice.

Use Advent to get to know and love God better. Don’t neglect worshipping God. With all the stress and clamor of Christmas preparations you can’t afford to neglect the Sabbath. Worship provides you an opportunity to focus on the incarnation of God.

Use Advent to show love to other believers. Don’t neglect having fellowship with your church family. When you do, share stories of Christmases past and Christmas hopes.

Use Advent to make choices that grow your character. No doubt you find yourself in pressure filled and frustrating situations.  Before you react ask yourself, What Would Jesus Do? Remember we are called to be disciples of Jesus. Disciples are to have the same attitude as that of Jesus.

Use Advent to serve God by serving others. The best gift that you can possible give is yourself. Spending time serving, helping, and bringing the spirit of Christmas is by far better than anything under the tree.

Use Advent to share the Good News. Like the angels who proclaimed Christ’s birth to the shepherds saying, “Behold I bring you Good News.” share with others what the love of God means to you or what the birth of Jesus means to you.

Use Advent to prepare yourself, not just for Christmas, but also for eternity. Use Advent to fulfill God’s purposes for you.
