September 2010

Greetings:

I have enjoyed reading this past month Paul’s letters to Timothy. They are filled with words of encouragement, wisdom, guidance and love. Paul concludes his 2nd letter to Timothy acknowledging that like the letter he is writing his life is also coming to an end. Confidently Paul could say he had been faithful to his call, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge will award to me...”

When Paul wrote his 14 letters found in the New Testament he wrote them when he was in his late 40’s until he died, in his mid 60’s. In his day he was a senior citizen. Today, we would say he is middle age.

The point I want to make is that age doesn’t matter when it comes to serving Christ. Teenager, young adult, middle age, or senior citizen is the perfect age to serve Christ, to do something for God.

We should never think we are too young or too old. We should never think that we are not good enough or talented enough. To think this way is to contradict scripture.

Each one of us, especially you, were wonderfully and beautifully made by God.  He has a plan and a purpose for all.

Have you ever asked yourself, What is God’s plan for me in St. Paul’s Church?

I am absolutely confident that you, like myself have been called to be a part of St. Paul’s Church and the ministry God desires for us to do.

Not everyone is called to teach, or sing in the choir, or serve as an elder or deacon, BUT everyone, you included, are called by God to do something.

Is God calling you:

to serve as an usher?
to serve as a greeter?
to serve as a deacon or elder?
to serve by singing in the choir?
to serve by making friendly home visits to the home bound?
to serve as a teacher of the children or adults?
to serve at Elijah’s Promise?
to serve at Feed the Children?
to serve by working with the youth?
to serve as a prayer warrior?

This is not a complete list of ways that you can serve. The point is you and I serve as Christ served us.

Prayerfully yours in Christ
