Christmas

Advent has begun, which means the race to Christmas has started.

Who am I kidding? The race began seconds after Halloween trick or treating was over. In a flash the Christmas decorations, AKA ‘holiday decorations’ appeared in the stores and malls all across America. In some cases they didn’t wait until after Halloween they appeared shortly after Labor Day.

‘Tis the season of comfort and joy, yeah right. The Christmas holiday wars began in October. The first report I got was that Mrs. Fields was not selling Christmas cookies this year, only holiday cookies. “It was an oversight.” claimed the store’s PR person. Sure!

What I don’t get is that in a recent survey 90% of those who responded said, “Christmas should be called Christmas. Hanukkah should be called Hanukkah. Kwanza should be called Kwanza. Call them what they are, that is what tolerance means.”
Why? Why do we make it so hard? Why do we make celebrating Christmas so hard?

Why do we put our selves into debt every Christmas? Why do you hear people moaning and groaning about Christmas when Christmas is all about “peace on earth, good will to men?” Jesus must be rolling in His grave when He sees what we have done to His birthday, but then that’s impossible isn’t it, since He ROSE from the dead so that you might have life and have it abundantly and eternally.

And guess what? He DOES see what we have done to His birthday! I can’t help but feel He isn’t too impressed or happy. Would you be happy if this how people remembered your birthday?

The celebration of Jesus’ birth is not supposed to be like that. It was not supposed to bring division and controversy. It was not supposed to bring financial, emotional and physical stress.

The celebration of Jesus’ birth is supposed to be a celebration of God's awesome and eternal love. “For God so loved the world, (that is you) that He gave His only Son, Jesus, so that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life.” God gave us His Son so that He could have a relationship with you. God sent us His angels to proclaim, “Glory to God and peace among all people, for unto to you is born, a Savior who is Christ the Lord.”
I am tired of hearing people complain about Christmas. If Christmas has become something other than what God had intended, who is to blame? The stores, the media, the movies, the other person? NO! If you don’t like what has become of Christmas then change it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. BUT I have GOOD NEWS. You can change it. Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus who has come to bring the birth of hope, of change, of joy, of peace, of love, of kindness, of self control, of patience, of kindness, of justice and of new life for you and me.

I encourage you to use the Christmas pages of this website to enrich your life and your celebration of Christ’s birth.

Merry Christmas & have a Blessed Life Changing Christmas.

AMEN
