Fair Weather Friends

| The following piece came to me
(author unknown) with Texas mentioned, but in view of the recent heat
wave, I imagine several of you could substitute other states: You know you're in Texas when . . . . . . . . . You no longer associate bridges (or rivers) . . . . You can say 110 degrees without fainting. . . . . You can make instant sun tea. . . . . You learn that a seat
belt makes a pretty . . . . The temperature drops
below 95, you feel a . . . . You discover that in
July, it takes only two . . . . You discover that you
can get a sunburn . . . . You notice the best
parking place is . . . . Hot water now comes out of both taps. . . . . It's noon in July, kids
are on summer . . . . You actually burn your
hand opening the . . . . You break a sweat the
instant you step . . . . Your biggest bicycle
wreck fear is, "What . . . . You realize that asphalt
has a liquid state. "But my
brothers are as undependable as intermittent streams, as the streams
that "Fair-weather friends"
are like those dry rivers in Texas. Sometimes they're there, and
sometimes they're not. In fact, they're not there during the times when
they are most needed. Have a great day! In Jesus' name, Amen.
